Book Description

This book has been developed to provide a comprehensive and research-oriented perspective on AI-based recruitment. It examines not only the technological aspects of AI applications—such as automated resume screening, predictive analytics, chatbots, and digital assessment tools—but also the human dimensions associated with their adoption. The attitudes, experiences, perceptions, and satisfaction levels of employees and HR professionals are carefully considered to present a balanced and practical view of AI integration. While AI offers efficiency, speed, and data-driven precision, it also raises important questions related to ethics, transparency, bias, data security, and the role of human judgment in hiring decisions.

Book Summary

AI-Based Recruitment: Transforming the Future of Talent Acquisition provides a comprehensive and research-oriented examination of how Artificial Intelligence is reshaping recruitment and talent acquisition in the modern workplace. As organisations increasingly adopt digital technologies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of hiring, AI has emerged as a powerful tool capable of transforming traditional recruitment processes.

The book explores the growing application of AI across different stages of recruitment, including automated resume screening, predictive analytics, AI-powered chatbots, digital assessment tools, candidate matching, and data-driven decision-making. These technologies have the potential to reduce administrative workloads, accelerate hiring processes, identify suitable candidates more efficiently, and support organisations in making informed recruitment decisions.

However, the book goes beyond the technological capabilities of AI to examine the human dimensions of AI-driven recruitment. It considers the attitudes, experiences, perceptions, expectations, and satisfaction levels of employees and HR professionals who interact with or are affected by these technologies. By incorporating these perspectives, the book presents a balanced understanding of AI integration rather than viewing technological adoption solely through the lens of efficiency and productivity.

One of the key themes explored is the changing role of human judgment in recruitment. While AI can analyse large volumes of information and identify patterns with remarkable speed, recruitment ultimately involves people, careers, organisational culture, and complex human characteristics that may not always be captured by algorithms. The book therefore considers the evolving relationship between human expertise and machine-based decision-making and examines how organisations can achieve an effective balance between the two.

The adoption of AI in recruitment also introduces several important challenges. Issues relating to algorithmic bias, fairness, transparency, privacy, data security, accountability, and ethical decision-making require careful consideration. An AI system trained on biased or incomplete data may reproduce or amplify existing inequalities, while opaque algorithms can make it difficult for candidates and organisations to understand how particular decisions have been reached. The book highlights these concerns and emphasises the importance of responsible and transparent approaches to AI adoption.

The discussion also considers the broader implications of AI for HR professionals. As routine recruitment activities become increasingly automated, the role of human resource professionals is evolving towards more strategic, analytical, and relationship-oriented responsibilities. Developing the skills required to understand, evaluate, and effectively use AI technologies will therefore become increasingly important for HR practitioners.

By combining technological, organisational, and human perspectives, this book offers a practical framework for understanding both the opportunities and challenges of AI-based recruitment. It seeks to help readers appreciate how AI can be used to improve recruitment while ensuring that efficiency does not come at the expense of fairness, human dignity, or professional judgment.

The book will be particularly useful for HR professionals, business leaders, researchers, academicians, management students, technology professionals, and organisations exploring AI-driven talent acquisition. It provides valuable insights into the emerging relationship between technology and human resource management and encourages readers to think critically about how recruitment can evolve in an increasingly AI-enabled world.

Ultimately, the book argues that the future of recruitment should not be about replacing human judgment with artificial intelligence, but about using AI responsibly to augment human capabilities. When supported by ethical safeguards, transparency, appropriate oversight, and meaningful human involvement, AI can become a powerful instrument for building faster, smarter, fairer, and more effective recruitment systems.
